Getting
Started: Building Your Site
Our online help section guides you through
the initial steps in building your site.
There are many methods by which you can ensure
that your existing visitors are accessing your new site.
1. Leave a message on your old site that redirects them to
a link on your new site.
2. Use Meta tags to automatically send your existing visitors
to your new site.
3. Redirect to your domain name to our server so that your
visitor directly accesses your new site without having to
view the old one.
Different companies make different browsers
which operate according to their unique methods. Browsers
also come in many diverse versions. Where one version may
support your format, another may not, resulting in a site
that appears different.
Our software is compatible with Netscape 6.0 or higher and
Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher (today 75% of the users use
these browsers). With these browsers and their higher versions,
your site will appear largely similar.
Worries over login
One of these two things is preventing you from
a smooth login.
E-mail your password to us if this problem
persists.
Problems with the cookies file prevent you
editing material even though you are successfully logged in.
ON attempting to edit, the system prompts you to login again.
A cookie is a piece of information sent to the user’s
computer by a web server. This information is saved by the
browser and returned by it to the server whenever you visit
our website. It is basically used as a security measure.
In order to solve this problem:
For Microsoft Internet Explorer
- First click on Tools
- Then click on Internet Explorer
- Next click on Delete Cookies
- Now click on OK
- Finally, restart your computer
For Netscape Navigator
- First click on Tasks -> Privacy & Security
-> Cookie Manager -> View Stored Cookies
- Then click the Advanced Category and select
Cache
- Next click on Remove All Cookies button
- Now click on OK
- Finally, restart your computer
In case of other browsers, go to help, search
for cookies, and delete them.
If your login problem persists, please get
in touch with us with your web address and a copy of the error
message.
Font Troubles
Use Copyright Statement Editor, Site Name Editor
etc. to make changes to your text. Prior to that you have
to familiarize yourself with the ways of selecting the text
you want to apply to the formatted font. Move the mouse cursor
in front of the text you want to select. Then click the left
mouse button and hold it down while you move your mouse to
the end of the text you want to select. Now release the mouse
button. Your text is selected.
To alter your text font –
- To alter the font type click on the down
arrow by Font
- To alter font sizes on the down arrow by
Size
- To boldface the font click on B
- To italicize the font click on I
- To underline the font click on U
One of two things is causing this problem:
1. Do not choose the default font style and
size after you have selected the text, or your font style
and size will not change. A change will be effective only
when you select some other font style and size.
2. Do not click on save while your text is
selected or else your changed font will not work. Before clicking
on the “Save” option, ensure you click somewhere
else.
Alter the title of your page by following these
few simple steps -
- First click on Edit Page Title
- This causes the Page Selection window to
appear
- Now enter the new names to change the existing
page titles and the navigation menu titles in the way you
want.
- Finally, click on the OK button.
Problems with
Image
Multiple causes may be responsible for this
problem :
- You have to use web compatible image format
- .jpg, .jpeg or .gif format - for your image to work
- You cannot use an image bigger than the
maximum size - 640x640 pixels
- You have to use only alphanumeric characters
- any letter from A-Z or a-z or digit 0-9 - in your image
file name for it to work
- At times improper codes are inserted into
an image by image editing programs leading to problems.
In such cases, try opening your image and renaming it. Follow
this up by saving it again.
Use Content Management to add images. Try the
following to add or alter your current image:
- First go to Content Editor page
- Then select the content number and click
on Edit
- Now the Content Updation page appears
- You have to click on the link Change Image
- This will make the Image Manager appear,
which will help you to change your images
- Sixth, select images from My Gallery or
Z-Gallery and Upload
- This will give you a preview of the image
- If you don’t like it click on Delete
- If you like it then click on OK
- This will make the Content Updation page
appear with the changed image
- Now click on OK
- Finally, your image is added along with
the content of that web page
Use Content Management to change the image
cell properties in order to resize your images. Image cell
properties can be edited by:
- First click on Edit Cell Property in the
Content Updation page
- Then alter vertical or horizontal alignment
and height or width
- Next change the background color
- Now click "OK"
- This will cause the Content Updation window
to appear with the changes
- You have to click "OK" again
- Finally, the changes can be viewed in your
web page
My Gallery and Members Online-Gallery are the two
types of image library or gallery made available by us. Images
stored in your local files can be accessed from My Gallery
while Members Online-Gallery allows you to choose the relevant image
for your web page from various categories of images.
To add images, read: In what ways can I add
an image?
12. IN what ways can I delete an image?
Use Content Management to delete images. Click
on the Delete button after you have reached Content Editor
to access specific content that contains images.
You cannot delete only the current image if
the content page consists of both image and content text.
Both image and content will be deleted on clicking the "Delete"
button.
13. Why does my image not change if
I upload an image to my template?
If you are viewing the cached version or memorized
version of your web page your computer will not accept the
refreshed page from our server. As a result, your image will
not change. You must clear your cache by deleting your temporary
files.
For Microsoft Internet Explorer:
- First click on Tools
- Then click on Internet Options
- Next click on Delete Files (in the Temporary
Internet files section)
- Now click on OK
- Finally, restart your computer
For Netscape Navigator:
- First open Edit menu
- Then choose Preferences
- Next double click on the Advanced category
- Now select Cache
- You have to click on the Clear Disk button
and Clear Memory Cache button
- After which you must click on OK
- Finally, restart your computer
14. What should be the maximum size
of my image?
640x640 pixels is the maximum size you can
use. This is approximately 18 cm by 18 cm on standard resolution
settings.
15. Is it possible to alter the background
image of my web page?
As of now there is no such provision. But you
are permitted to edit those images that have been added with
content.

Ways
to boost your SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
We submit your website to approximately 200 search engines. The top few dozen search engines account for more than 99% of all search engine referrals. The other half million or so "search engines" are mostly spammers masquerading as search engines to harvest e-mail addresses. Submitting to a couple hundred top search engines gives you almost 100% exposure without opening the floodgate of junk e-mails.
That is an excellent question! The truth is that on average it can take 4 to 8 weeks (depending on the search engine) before your site is indexed and listed. Long gone are the days when you could get your site indexed in 24 hours. I know that this sounds like a long time but you must keep in mind that there are on average over 14,000+ new web sites going up everyday and they all want to get indexed as well. Combine that with all the other sites out there that want to be re-indexed and you can see why there's a huge back log. You just have to be patient and let the search engine spiders come to you after you've submitted. They will come to you and index your site eventually.
There is no set rule, and there is no way to accurately project a standard number of hits you might receive. You see the total number of new visitors your site receives is determined by the search engine, its audience, and how tightly you focus or topic of your site.
Promotion and
Marketing
Creating a website is not enough. You need to market it and sell it to a target audience using the best promotional strategies available. It is imperative that you do not get lost among a host of other websites.
Search engines are your best bet to promote yourself effectively. Today more than 85% of visitors find relevant websites through search engines and they prefer those sites that have a high rank in the search results. It is a must to have your site in the top 10 search results.
Here’s how you hike your rank in Search Results:
- Use keyword heavy text in your webpage and title.
- Use the keywords frequently, but not repeatedly. They should flow easily and smoothly.
- Start a link exchange program to gather more and more links from other sites. If you are linked with many sites, search engines will treat you as a popular site. You can also swap links with other site.
- While image is an important aspect of your website, using text to describe your content is the best way to get a higher page rank. As search engines cannot read the text inside image files, it treats the files as images.
- To prevent your site being removed from their listing, do not try to trick search engines or spam them.

Questions on Backup System and Uptime
Our server provides a regular backup. So you
don’t need to backup your site personally. But in case
you still want to backup your site you can use any “Offline
Browser”. The offline browser will copy your website
to the hard drive of your computer.
Offline browsers are available at www.download.com or www.httrack.com
Further, to save the pages of your site separately –
click on File and then click on Save As.
Page timeout or expired can occur due to many
reasons. You may get the message that page is expired or timeout
if your website doesn’t respond within the time set
by your web browser e.g. Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator
etc. Slow internet connection between your computer and our
server may also lead to this problem. This is generally caused
by your ISP (Internet service Provider), the company that
provides your internet connection.
If too many people are using the ISP at the same time, this
problem occurs. But as we are able to handle more connection
bandwidth than we need there is no problem from our server.
Try one of the following to solve your problem:
1. First you have to copy and paste your page in a word processor
like Microsoft Word or Notepad and then save it. To copy -
(a) You must select the text
(b) Then press Ctrl+C
(c) Now go to the word processor
(d) Next, press Ctrl+V
(e) Your text will be pasted.
(f) Finally, you can save it
2. Save your text frequently as you work to cut down on excess
loss of work. But the first process is more convenient.
3. You can also write the text and save it in your word processor.
Later you can paste to your page by copying from the word
processor. The technique ensures that you always have a local
copy of your text.
We recommended Internet Explorer 5.5 and above
to use the Members Online Design Center.
